Our Strength is Our Diversity of Military Backgrounds and Experiences

From our junior enlisted to our field grade officers, our combat elements all have professional military experience. While we have soldiers who have fought in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Balkans, Transnistria, and other wars, the thing we value most is a professional military education.

We see our years of training on the right way to fight wars as the biggest combat multiplier we can offer Ukraine. We ask all soldiers in our battalion to throw away their egos and to continuously train and build on that training.

Aside from combat duties, we are continuously training. With that said, we don't just consider training a day at the firing range, but also training on giving and receiving operational orders, troop leading procedures, the indirect fires process, law of war, ethics, and medical training. We work together and with other units in Ukraine to merge our many experiences into the best operating procedures for the current environment.

What is our prior experience?

We come from some of the best militaries in the world. Maybe you’ll recognize some of them.

What is our patch?

Our patch is a Pahonian knight with a shield emblazoned with a bold “W,” to show friends and foes alike that we are the Western Battalion serving the free Belarusians of the Kalinouski Regiment.

Our motto is Audere Est Facere, or “to dare is to do,” to represent the courage of our soldiers fighting for others’ freedom.

We also include Glory to Ukraine! and Long Live Belarus! to show our commitment to Ukraine and the free people of Belarus.
